Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: May 22, 2026
Pier exists to make moving sensitive business documents between organizations safer. This policy lists what you may not do with it. Violating any of the items below may result in transfer revocation, account suspension, or account termination.
Content you may not send or store
- Anything illegal under United States federal or New York state law.
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Any such material will be reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law enforcement.
- Threats of violence, harassment, or stalking material directed at specific people.
- Material that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property right, unless you have permission.
- Personally identifying information of third parties used for harassment, doxxing, stalking, or other unlawful purposes.
- Content that promotes terrorism, hate against protected groups, or incitement to violence.
Technical abuse
- Malware, viruses, worms, ransomware, or any code intended to damage systems or steal information.
- Phishing kits, credential harvesters, or material designed to deceive recipients into surrendering credentials or money.
- Attempts to bypass Pier's access controls, abuse public dock links, scrape data, or interfere with the service's operation for other customers.
Spam and abuse of recipients
- Unsolicited bulk transfers — a transfer link sent to recipients who did not request it.
- Using Pier to send commercial offers, marketing material, or political solicitations that the recipient did not opt into.
High-risk activities
- Trafficking in weapons, narcotics, or other goods illegal in the jurisdiction of the sender or recipient.
- Exploitation of minors or trafficked persons, including transmission of documents used to facilitate such exploitation.
- Fraud, money laundering, or financial crimes.
Misuse of platform features
- Using a shared dock link to circumvent intended access — for example, posting a customer-only intake link publicly to flood it with garbage.
- Using a watermarked download link in a way meant to remove or alter the watermark.
- Using a view-only transfer to capture and redistribute content the sender disabled downloads for.
Reporting violations
If you believe someone is using Pier in violation of this policy — including content sent to you through a transfer — email legal@pierlabs.pro with as much detail as you can share (transfer ID, sender domain, screenshots if safe to attach).
Consequences
Depending on severity, we may:
- Revoke individual transfers immediately.
- Suspend the offending user or dock pending review.
- Terminate the organization's account and delete its data.
- Refuse future signups from the same individuals or entities.
Cooperation with law enforcement
Milestone Acrylic LLC reserves the right to cooperate with law enforcement investigations. We will respond to valid legal process (subpoenas, court orders, search warrants) and may, where appropriate, voluntarily disclose information to prevent imminent harm.
