PIER

Cookie Policy

Last updated: May 22, 2026

Pier uses very few cookies. Most session state is kept in your browser's localStorage, which is technically not a cookie but is treated similarly under privacy law.

Essential storage (required for sign-in)

  • Authentication tokens stored in your browser's localStorage by our identity provider. Required to keep you signed in.
  • During sign-in, our identity provider sets a temporary session cookie on its own domain. We do not control this cookie directly.

Functional preferences (optional)

  • Theme preference: remembers light or dark mode. Stored in localStorage, not transmitted to our servers.

What we don't use

  • No advertising or marketing cookies.
  • No third-party tracking pixels or social-media share trackers.
  • No analytics cookies at launch. If we add a privacy-respecting analytics tool (one that doesn't store personal data or track across sites), we will update this policy and tell organization Owners before turning it on.

Managing your storage

You can clear cookies and localStorage through your browser's privacy settings. Note:

  • Blocking essential storage will prevent sign-in.
  • Clearing your browser's storage signs you out and removes your theme preference.

Changes to this policy

If we add or change cookies in a meaningful way, we will update this page and refresh the "Last updated" date at the top.
